Internships
I’ve interned at two news stations in the Providence-New Bedford DMA: WPRI-TV and ABC6 WLNE-TV. As a news intern at the two stations each shift I would be out in the field with a reporter and/or photographer and I would help write scripts, shoot B-Roll, X-Roll, and SOTs, do stand ups, and conduct interviews. At ABC6 I also would also work with producers writing Anchor VOs and VOSOTs for the dayside broadcasts and occasionally operate the teleprompter in the control room. During my time at both stations I helped reporters cover a wide variety of stories. Some memorable ones include dayside coverage outside the TD Garden in Boston leading up to Game 6 of the 2022 NBA Finals, a murder investigation in Woonsocket where a woman murdered her father, an FBI raid of a Hells Angels compound in Westport, MA, and a scaffolding collapse at the North Attleboro Housing Authority during bitter cold with windchills up to -30 degrees that night. One shift at ABC6 I also got to go in place of a reporter with a photographer to TF Green Airport in Warwick, RI and interview TSA New England Spokesman Dan Velez for a VOSOT on high travel rates as pandemic restrictions had been lessening. I also produced full packages at WPRI where I covered topics including former Providence mayor putting in a bid for the Christopher Columbus statue that had been in storage after being vandalized in Providence and Providence Red Cross volunteers’ relief efforts for victims of five fires in the last five days.
